Bill FlutyBill Fluty

Bill lives in Morehead City, North Carolina.  He and his wife, Sandy, have been in the local area for the past nineteen years.  They arrived here after a 3500 mile cruise aboard their Caliber 38.  That Cruise began in Tampa, Florida, proceeded as far south as the Dry Tortugas, east to the Bahama Islands and north to Maine before stopping in Beaufrot on the way south.

Sandy and Bill spent eight years living aboard (total 15000 miles).  For 15 years thereafter they suffered the storms on North Carolina waterfront property, and have now moved inland to Brandywine, where they have a slip, but no more problems with storms.

From an early introduction to boats by his family, Bill has spent all of his life around water.  While in the Army (23 years), Bill had the opportunity to boat in waters as diverse as the Gulf of Siam, the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean; some of it on pleasure boats, some of it in both Army and Navy vessels.  Bill's last four years in the service were spent on the staff of General Schwartzkopf at the United States Central Command where he was one of the contributors to the plan that was implemented as Desert Storm.

Bill transitioned back to civilian life by running the Electronics and Naviagation sections of the BOAT US retail store (now West Marine) in St. Petersburg, Florida.  His other work expereiences were six months running the show room and service department with Outer Banks Electronics, three years with Town Creek Marina as General Manager and then eight years as Managing Partner of Matthews Point Yacht Sales.  Bill has been with Radio Island Marina in a sales position since July 2002.

Bill commuted daily to work by boat for eleven years with his dog Spencer.  His wife stays at home and takes care of the many stray animals they have adopted over the years.  Bill's dad had 28 boats in his life time and Bill has now exceeded that number.  billfluty@radioislandmarina.com

John PainterJohn Painter

John has been in yacht sales for 15 years here in Morehead City, North Carolina, where he currently lives with his wife Debbie and their two daughters Blair and Bowe.  During this time he has accrued an extensive knowledge of both fishing and boating in the local area.

Buying a boat can be very confusing and hard to understand with all the different brands, modesl and options.  Determining why some boats cost more than others, and matching all this with your desires and needs is an area where John excels.  Through extensive research John has become a technical expert on all phases of boat construction and propulsion systems.  He enjoys passing this on to his clients so they can make informed buying decisions.

John's major area of expertise is sport fishing boats between 15 and 50 feet.  He has helped customers purchase boats in these sizes and has a large following of satisfied customers.

The most rewarding part of this job for John is introducing new customers to the total boating expereience.  John spends time with his customers on the water, teaching them not only how to run their boat, but showing off the beautiful coastal waters he calls home.

On his days off you can find him on the water with Debbie, Blair, and Bowe chasing that elusive world record pinfish!!  john@radioislandmarina.com
